Meaning
OE on an LG washer means the machine tried to drain the water but could not empty the tub within the time the cycle allows. The most common cause is a clogged drain pump filter, so start by cleaning that filter and checking the drain hose for kinks.

What the LG OE code means
OE stands for outlet error, or drain error. During the drain step the control board watches the water level fall through the pressure sensor. - Cancel the cycle and check the drain hose — pull the washer out and confirm the hose behind it is not kinked, crushed, or buried too deep in the standpipe.
- Confirm the drain height — the drain point should sit roughly waist high; LG’s hard limit is 96 inches (8 feet) above the base of the washer, and the hose should not be pushed more than about 8 inches into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning.
- Run a spin-only test — start a spin cycle and listen. A steady hum means the pump motor runs, which points to a blockage rather than a dead pump.
- Drain the residual water — unplug the washer, open the service panel at the bottom-left, and empty the small emergency drain hose into a pan before touching the filter.
- Clean the drain pump filter — turn the filter counter-clockwise, remove it, and clear lint and debris with a soft brush under warm water. Reinstall it clockwise until snug.
- Inspect the pump housing and impeller — with the filter out, look into the cavity for a coin or fabric jamming the impeller, and turn the impeller by hand to confirm it spins freely.
- Run a tub clean cycle and cut detergent — if suds were the trigger, run tub clean and use less high-efficiency detergent going forward.
